Juliet’s interest in holistic healing began shortly after she graduated from high school. During her four years at University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she studied environmental science, she pursued a personal study in the disciplines of yoga and western herbalism as well as nutrition and natural health.
She expanded her pursuits in these areas with study of organic farming and ecology in Costa Rica as well as in Colorado where she received her certification in permaculture design. Her most recent pursuits were in the Herbal Studies Program at Herb Pharm where she lived and worked on an organic herb farm while apprenticing with internationally recognized herbal practitioners.
Juliet was introduced to the science and art of ayurveda in 2002 by her teacher Cary Twomey. Since that time she has had the rare blessing of a direct mentorship from Mrs. Twomey and continues her studies of yoga, meditation, ayurveda and aromatherapy under Cary’s adept guidance. She received a certificate in Ayurvedic Nutrition through Wise Earth School of Ayurveda in 2004.
During over twelve years of yoga asana practice, Juliet has had the fortune of studying many styles of yoga including Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar, Kundalini, Classical Hatha and Ayurvedic. Her studies of Ashtanga with nationally recognized Kristin Laak afforded her a deeper understanding of the natural grace and energy flow that are expressed in asana. Juliet's broad exposure has helped her to cultivate a well-rounded practice and style of teaching. In order to further develop her instruction abilities she completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training at the Shambhava School of Yoga in 2004.
Upon becoming certified Juliet began instructing group classes. Years of experience have informed her teaching and have allowed her to develop skills in adjusting postures, sequencing and pace. Each class and private session is a reflection of her study and dedication to the healing way of yoga. As an instructor Juliet challenges her students physically while teaching them how to protect themselves from injury and overextension. All of her classes are infused with yogic philosophy, meditation, breath awareness and the principles of ayurveda.
Most recently Juliet has expanded her knowledge of natural healing by undertaking studies of aromatherapy, massage therapy and Thai Massage. By offering these therapies in conjunction with yoga and ayurveda she offers a truly unique spectrum of modalities that promote individual healing on all levels. She completed the 850-hour professional massage therapy program at Sister Rosalind Geffre School of Massage in March, 2008 and has studied the use and application of healing essential oils through The Institute of Integrative Aromatherapy. She has undertaken her Thai studies in Chicago with Chuck Duff, one of the most highly regarded Thai practitioners and teachers in the country. She is currently pursuing full certification as a Thai Bodyworker and Clinical Thai Bodyworker.
Juliet has a deep commitment to the practices of Ayurveda, yoga and bodywork and believes that the integration of these ancient paths of wisdom into modern living acts as a salve to the discomfort and dis-ease we sustain with our hectic pace, bringing balance and harmony to each person’s existence. She approaches each student and client as an individual and works with each person to determine what modalities and therapies will best serve them. She offers yoga classes, workshops, ayurvedic consultations, essential oil therapy and thai massage sessions. It is her sincere desire that by employing these methods, she will help others to experience their true nature: full of health, happiness and freedom from disease.
